The film picks up where The Avengers (2012) left off, with Tony Stark struggling to cope with the events of the previous film. A terrorist known as the Mandarin, who claims responsibility for a series of bombings and terrorist attacks, becomes a major threat to global security. Tony, along with his assistant Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) and James Rhodes (Don Cheadle), aka War Machine, must track down the Mandarin and put an end to his evil plans.
