The film is set in 1956, four years after the events of the first movie. The story follows Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga), who is now living a quieter life in France. However, when a priest is brutally murdered and a spreading evil is reported, she is once again called upon to confront the demonic nun, Valak (Bonnie Aarons).
